Wood Fired Pizza With a Purpose

Every Wednesday evening throughout the summer, this volunteer-powered crew fires up their wood-fired oven to serve up delicious pizzas while supporting local nonprofits. Each week highlights two local organizations, with the collective amount of the season's proceeds being distributed between all the recipients.

According to John Heydt, Community Oven founder, “we finished another solid year and in spite of two weather related cancellations we were still able to distribute a total of $24,000. Each of 24 area groups and organizations received $1000 for helping partner with us on Wednesday pizza nights June through August. We’ve now distributed more than $121,000 to our community since 2018. Additionally, we are pleased to have partnered with the international non-profit Bricks for Bread to support their efforts to assist women in need across Central America”.

Entertainment

Each week there are local musicians sharing their talent. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, relax, and enjoy your summer evening. There are lawn games available, and a playground to keep the kids occupied.

Each year various community non-profit organizations and groups apply to help sponsor Wednesday night pizza bakes by supplying volunteers to assist with operations. It’s great pizza for a great cause—and everyone’s invited.
