Behind the Flowers

Anderson Florist & Greenhouse is proudly owned and operated by the Ruprecht family — Jackie, Steve, Ada, and Felix; they purchased the business in May 2025. They're passionate about plants of all types as well as they services they provide. Steve loves to share his knowledge with other plant lovers. Come on in and chat with him anytime!

The Greenhouse & Garden Center

Each season, the team grows all of their own bedding plants right in the on-site greenhouses. They offer unique and interesting annuals and perennials, with a large vegetable selection that includes some seriously hot peppers. Knowledgeable staff can help you plan and plant beautiful gardens, whether flowers, vegetables, beds, or containers. Their tree and shrub lot is growing and expanding all the time, and includes bulk landscape materials.

Community Events & Workshops

Annual Spring Open House: Each spring, the entire store is decorated for A beloved Alexandria tradition.  season, complete with tours, refreshments, beautiful displays, and a petting zoo. Bring the whole family and enjoy the first breath of spring.

Workshops: There's nothing better than gathering together and getting your hands dirty. From educational sessions to to hands-on classes, like the popular spruce top pot workshop. Keep an eye out for upcoming events.
